After a summer hiatus from the DCA blog, I am back for one last post, to say goodbye. Today is my last official day as a graduate-student-casual-employee-reference-and-processing-assistant at Tufts. Though I'm not sure of the exact date, I'm fairly certain that I've been here approximately three years and one week. While I've been here, I've seen a lot of what you'd expect: new people arriving, staff members leaving, babies and weddings, new office space, new projects and grants. The thing is though - all of these moments have been remarkable to me because I've been fortunate enough to experience them while working with an absolutely amazing and inspiring team of archivists.
Not for the first time (and certainly not for the last), I thank my proverbial lucky stars for that day in August 2007 when a friend forwarded me a job posting and said "You should check this out...I've heard great things about the Tufts archives." An attempt to list everything I've learned from the staff at DCA would be alarmingly extensive, and yet still not exhaustive. Suffice to say that I probably would not be heading off to to a great new job if not for their hard work and willingness to share their knowledge. So, to all my teachers..Anne, Susanne, Veronica, Jen, Krista, Eliot, and Deborah (and of course, Michelle, Monica, Holly, Ashley, Lauren, Victoria, Sam, Xu, MacKenzie, Drew, Mae, and Jessie)...thanks! As I enter the work of full-time, professional employment, I will try to do you proud!
